As one of the "traditional three core components" of high-performance computing infrastructure, storage products, unlike computing and network technologies that have been developing at a high speed, have seen relatively slow development in China and have long been monopolized by enterprises from Europe, America, Japan and South Korea. This leaves users with very limited choices. As a local brand, GLOWAY aims to explore a development path for domestic storage that suits China's national conditions. With a "hardworking and striving" spirit, GLOWAY's team develops storage products with "foresight". While breaking the technological blockade, it also attaches great importance to the innovation and practicality of products. This effort is not only to enable users to access storage products with higher cost-effectiveness, but also to help a domestic storage brand gain a foothold in the international market.

In 2009, after several years of layout, the "GLOWAY" brand expanded its business to regions and countries such as Canada, North America and Brazil. Starting from 2012, the "GLOWAY" brand officially transformed its positioning: shifting from entry-level products to the e-sports market. In the same year, it launched the classic e-sports memory "Hanjiang" series targeting consumer users, which included the first batch of overclocking memory supporting "XMP" technology. Since then, the "Hanjiang" series has ranked among the top in memory product sales for a decade.

Before 2018, although "GLOWAY" had already gained a relatively large market share, it was still restricted by the fact that raw materials were controlled by manufacturers from the United States, Japan and South Korea. Thus, there was still a gap from having real competitiveness in the field of domestic storage.

In 2018, the Chinese government strongly supported the development of domestic storage. National Chip & Integrated Circuit Design Co., Ltd. (Guokewei) released GK2301, the first solid-state drive (SSD) storage control chip that passed both the national cryptographic certification and national testing certification. In the same year, "GLOWAY" immediately established cooperation with "Guokewei" and launched "Yi Series", China's first fully domestically produced SSD. From product naming and style positioning to packaging design, all elements were Chinese-style. More importantly, every link from the main control chip, brand operation to manufacturing was completed by Chinese enterprises, realizing a high degree of localization of storage products. This achievement holds great significance and far-reaching influence. Since its launch, the product has been highly concerned by users, and the "GLOWAY" brand has always remembered the enthusiastic support of users, which has strengthened its determination to develop its own independent brand.

In 2020, GLOWAY launched its first memory module with "Chinese core" - the Yi Pro series. Adopting memory particles produced by ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT), this series broke the foreign technological monopoly. At the same time, GLOWAY successively launched SSD products equipped with Yangtze Memory Technologies Co., Ltd. (YMTC) particles. In addition to the basic SATA 2.5-inch SSDs, the "GLOWAY" brand, in collaboration with domestic main control manufacturer "Lianyun", launched the first generation of fully domestically produced NVMe protocol SSDs. Since then, the complete product line of GLOWAY's "Yi Series" has achieved comprehensive development, promoting the better marketization of domestic storage products.

In May 2022, GLOWAY Yi PRO memory modules officially made their debut on JD.com. Equipped with CXMT's 1X nm-level DDR4 memory chips, the product continues the leading position of the "Yi Series" and features strong Chinese-style elements. It also adopts an 8-layer PCB design, which better ensures performance and stability. After tests conducted by multiple media outlets and enthusiasts, the "Yi Series" memory has reached the level of mainstream memory products and can meet the needs of most users. Later in 2022, the products using CXMT's specially selected A-die particles further demonstrated excellent overclocking performance and were deeply loved by users.
